Performance assessment

ATM systems and operations become increasingly performance-driven, meaning that they must commit to deliver services with agreed quality standards. That is why performance requirements are usually part of the concept definition to specify the service level to be provided to the user.

ADV develops these performance requirements which are developed according to a performance framework defined as follows:

  • Performance is measured according to defined Key Performance Areas (KPA)
  • Each KPA is associated to several performance indicators and associated targets, allowing to monitor the achievement.
  • These performance indicators are computed from the elementary metrics derived from parameters characterizing the system behaviour.
  • Performance indicators can be aggregated at different scales, up to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) giving a macroscopic image of the system behaviour, expressed in terms of performance for each performance area of relevance to the new system.
  • Influence diagrams are built, detailing the interdependencies between indicators, and therefore the trade-offs that may be required when managing the various performance levels.

ADV has acquired a high level of experience in the conduction of performance assessment studies, particularly in the domain of ATFCM, as demonstrated during a three-year study addressing the performance of ATFM regulations from an operational point of view, through the development of a comprehensive set of performance indicators

We have developed a performance framework allowing to measure the performance of the operations and services of the CFMU.
